SG: WHAT IS YOUR GOAL FOR “CHICKEN SOUP FOR THE SOUL”? WHAT DO YOU WANT PEOPLE TO TAKE AWAY FROM IT?

MVH: We want people to take away that we are changing the world one story at a time and that it causes instantaneous behavioral change.

SG: WHY DO YOU FEEL THAT STORIES CAN MAKE SUCH AN AFFECT ON PEOPLE’S LIVES?

MVH: We are doing an entire book on how people’s lives have been affected. Prisoners who were going to kill someone have read it and said that they changed their perception. When they were going to get out they no longer want to kill that person. We had a lot of kids call us from “Teenage Soul” saying that they were going to kill themselves until they read our books.

SG: WHAT HAS “CHICKEN SOUP FOR THE SOUL” TAUGHT YOU?

MVH: That everyone has a heart and a soul. They can be moved by the strongest medicine in the world, which is a good story. A story can either make you well or sick. We want make people healthy happy whole and complete.

SG: WHAT DO YOU BELIEVE IS THE KEY FOR A MEANINGFUL LIFE AND HOW DOES ONE ACCESS THAT KEY?

MVH: Have a purpose bigger than you are and decide to be a servant of the many.
